They don’t have ABS either. Wheeler was passionate against airbags and ABS. He said TVRs were safer without them. On the airbags front he reasoned that in an open top car a driver would have some degree of self preservation, while an airbag deployment would push the head back up into the danger zone (all the more recent TVRs have full roll cages or with open tops have a windscreen surround that is an integral part of the chassis and provide roll over protection).

I know he basically told the European safety union(or whatever its called) to pound sand when they said he had to install airbags.

It would have to be an old one, but he could. I saw some this past summer at a show.
